Welcome to Portable Theory Testing
Portable Theory Testing (PTT) is a dedicated group-based testing solution designed for community providers, schools, and organisations.
Instead of requiring individuals to visit a branch, PTT brings the testing directly to your location, making licensing more accessible. With flexible scheduling and a familiar environment, applicants can sit their learner licence theory test where they feel the most comfortable, reducing barriers and improving their chances of success.
How can PTT help your community?
Flexible booking options depending on the number of participants.
Convenient scheduling directly to your location Monday - Saturday and Sunday's by agreement. 8:00 AM - 8:00 PM, except on public holidays.
We conduct all driver licensing theory tests except overseas conversions applications and provide support for special accommodations with customisable testing options to work for your group size and needs. Just give our team a heads up on what we can do for you!
Pay on the day using VTNZ account invoices, EFTPOS or credit card. Please note that there is no fee for community providers, just for the testing costs themselves.
Ready to Book?
Contact our friendly Portable Theory Testing team via the contact options below to discuss options for testing. They'll need your group size, preferred dates, location and payment details, so make sure you have these on hand.
After you've talked to our team, they'll add your booking to the booking system (Appointy) and NZTA Waka Kotahi will review the booking to approve. We need a minimum of 15 business days' notice for this. After approval, you'll receive a confirmation email with a schedule template, and you'll be ready to go!
