Maintenance Check

Get your regular basic servicing done at VTNZ by our trained Automotive Technicians to ensure your car is reliable, safe and road ready. We’ll check that your battery is charging and is in good condition as well as 12 other key essentials of your vehicle’s safety and condition.

A Maintenance Check covers 14 features that aren’t included in a Warrant of Fitness. These will help you improve the life and efficiency of your vehicle by:

  • Minimising major and potentially avoidable repair work
  • Helping keep you and your passengers safe
  • Retaining the value of your car


A VTNZ Maintenance Check covers the essential car maintenance basics that you might not have the time for. At just $49, or $28 when added to your WoF, it’s great value and could save you big time on repair bills down the track.


14 features of a Maintenance Check

  • Engine
    - Listen for unusual sounds
  • Drive Belts
    - Condition of drive belts tested (excludes cambelt)
  • Radiator
    - Inspect the radiator + radiator hoses for leaks and deterioration
  • Engine Coolant
    - Inspect levels + report on condition
    - Top up if required*
  • Battery
    - Test + assess condition
  • Brake Fluid
    - Inspect fluid level + report on condition
    - Top up if required*
  • Steering Fluid
    - Inspect fluid level + report on condition
    - Top up if required*
  • Clutch Fluid
    - Test fluid level + report on condition
    - Top up if required*
  • Oil
    - Test oil level + report on condition
    - Top up if required*
  • Tyres
    - Tyres inflated to the correct pressures
  • Emergency Kit
    - Ensure the car jack, toolkit and spare wheel are present
  • Wiper Blades
    - Inspect condition
    - Replace if necessary (wiper blades at extra cost)
  • Windscreen
    - Inspect windscreen washer level and top up if needed.
  • Front Windscreen
    - Inspect for any chips or cracks and give it a good clean.

*Additional costs may apply if fluids are required, we’ll be sure to ask you first.

What’s not in a Maintenance Check?

A Maintenance Check covers general preventative care and basic servicing essentials. It does not include engine oil and filter changes.

My car was really low on oil and at risk of seizing up. The VTNZ Automotive Technician said he could top it up for me.


When’s the best time to come?

No need to book. Just drop in when it’s convenient for you. Most branches are open weekends, but Saturdays are our busiest time, particularly between 10am and 12 noon. Our quietest times are usually weekdays from 9am to 10am and 2pm to 3pm.
