Arvind is an Automotive Technician at our Rotorua branch.
The thing he loves most about working for VTNZ is that it is like being part of one big family.
Arvind likes to connect with his customers through humour, and likes to make sure they really enjoy their experience.
When I was working as a motor mechanic in New Lynn I got to know some of the VTNZ staff, which inspired me to join their team as an Automotive Technician. VTNZ has a great reputation as a workplace, and it definitely lives up to that!
I started at the Sylvia Park branch in 2005 and was there for a couple of years, then moved to Matamata in the Waikato for three years before coming here to Rotorua. It’s been great having the opportunity to move jobs within VTNZ depending on where my family want to live.
Around three years ago I was nominated for Employee of the Year, which was a huge honour. My wife and I were flown to Wellington for the awards night, where we met lots of people who were part of the company, including the CEO of VTNZ! It was definitely a high point in my career.
My co-workers and I spend so much time together that we’re like a big family. It’s really important to everyone when someone has something to celebrate, so we’ll all go bowling or our Manager will organise a lunch. Outside of work most of us are really busy with our families, but occasionally we will all go to together for a weekend barbeque.
I’ve got a really good sense of humour, and I always try and make the customers laugh! I think it’s important that people have a good time when they come here, so even if their vehicles don’t pass the assessment, I always try and have a joke with them.
Because Rotorua is a destination city, I think it is important that I represent not just VTNZ, but the city as well.
There are so many opportunities at VTNZ! For instance, in my case, I joined VTNZ 11 years ago as a migrant from Fiji and in that time I’ve been a finalist for Employee of the Year, and now I’m on TV in the latest VTNZ advert!
When you come to work for VTNZ, you are not just joining a company; you’re joining a family. We support one another just like members of a family. Everyone is part of this big family and we all look out for each other.
We'll have you road ready in no time.
