Q: What does your day-to-day usually look like?
I really enjoy working at VTNZ because it is always busy – there’s never a quiet moment, so you’re always moving and never bored!
I work at the Queenstown branch so we get a lot of travelers coming through for assessments all year round. There are also quite a few rental companies in the area, so we have them bringing through all their vehicles too.
Q: How long have you worked at VTNZ?
I only started working at VTNZ as an Automotive Technician at the Queenstown branch 11 months ago.
In 2009 I moved from Tonga to Wellington, which is where I studied to be a motor mechanic. I stayed there for around five years and then moved up to Auckland and did some building and insurance jobs before the opportunity to work at VTNZ came up. I just wanted to do something more interesting that still used all the skills I had. I’m glad I made the move!
Q: What do you love about working for VTNZ?
I love working for VTNZ – It’s a really good job. I am a people person, so I enjoy meeting new people and talking to them.
I especially enjoy talking to and socialising with my co-workers, we all get along really well. When you work here, it’s kind of like you’re working with your family. My co-workers and my friends are all just like my family.
Q: How do you think you go above and beyond for your customers?
I like to talk to my customers and make sure they’re having a good experience at VTNZ. I’ll have a joke with them and get them laughing. It’s important to keep your customers happy!
I always try to do the right thing for them – if their car doesn’t pass the assessment, I give them advice on where to go and what they need to get fixed. Everything we do is to ensure their car is safe for them and others. I like to look after my customers.
