Stay Safe on your Summer Road Trip with VTNZ

With the holidays nearly here, many of us will be hitting the road on a classic Kiwi road trip. Make sure your vehicle is in tip top shape for shipping the whanau around the country with our summer checklist.

  1. Check your lights are working – ask a friend or family member to stand outside the car and help you to test your headlights, indicators, tail and brake lights.
  2. Check that your oil, coolant and brake fluid levels are topped up. No one wants a seized engine while on holiday.
  3. Give your windscreen a quick clean, check your wipers are working and top up your washer water.
  4. Take a look at the condition of your tyres – look out for any cracks or punctures and check the tyre tread is at least 1.5mm. It’s a good idea to pump up your tyres at your local petrol station.
  5. Roll out your seatbelts and check for any tears or rips in the fabric and that the buckles click firmly in place.

If you need a hand with any of these things, just pop by your local VTNZ. For just $35 you can get a Basic Service, which covers most of the things mentioned above as well as checking your battery condition. VTNZ also offers Roadside Assistance from just $28. It will give you that extra bit of reassurance and make sure you have a safe journey ahead.
