DRIVER TESTING SERVICES DURING COVID-19 ALERT LEVELS

COVID-19 ALERT LEVEL 1 DRIVER TESTING SERVICES
In Alert 1, all driver testing services will resume as normal with the following exceptions:

  • Support people, including translators, can now accompany you on your driver test. Please note you cannot come into a branch and will need to reschedule your driving test if you or your Support Person are unwell with cold or flu symptoms, have been in contact with someone who has COVID-19 in the past 14 days, or are awaiting the result of a COVID -19 test.To reschedule your driving test please contact NZTA on 0800 822 422.
  • Your Driver Testing Officer may be wearing a mask. You are encouraged to bring your own mask and wear that during your test.
  • They will also ask you a series of COVID-19 related questions. Please do not be offended when they ask these questions as they are for the safety of everyone visiting our branches.

Please make yourself familiar with the procedures you will need to follow when coming for your driving test.

Before Your Test:

  1. We will send you a text message before your test with the option to reschedule if you or your Support Person are unwell, have been in contact with someone who has COVID-19  or are awaiting the result of COVID-19 test. If you turn up to your test and we feel that you or your Support Person are sick or we find out you or your Support Person have been in contact with COVID-19 or that you or your Support Person are awaiting COVID-19 test results, or that you or your Support Person are awaiting COVID-19 test results your test will not be conducted and you will be rescheduled to a future date.
  2. Before coming for your test please ensure that you clean your vehicle and make sure that it is clutter free so as to reduce the risk of any infection.

Upon Arriving at your Test: 

  1. Park your vehicle and read the Driver Testing Customers instructions on the reception door.
  2. Please check for and read any COVID-19 Health & Safety signage on the exterior of the building before entering your test location.
  3. You will be asked the following COVID-19 related questions:
    • Have you or your Support Person been in close personal contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19 in the past 14 days?
    • Are you or your Support Person unwell with cold of flu symptoms?
    • Are you or your Support Person waiting on COVID-19 test results?Please do not be offended when we ask these questions as they are for the safety of everyone visiting our branches.
  4. During your test, for your safety and theirs, your Driving Testing Officer may be wearing a mask whilst conducting the test. You are encouraged to bring your own mask and wear that during your test.
