Independent Inspection and advice
Most privately owned vehicles need a regular WoF. This includes cars, utes, trailers, motorbikes, caravans and small trucks. If your vehicle is for personal use, is under 3,500kg, and you intend to drive on the road, this is the inspection you need.
If the vehicle is used for commercial passenger services, such as taxis, ride share or rental cars, you will need a Certificate of Fitness (CoF A). If you have a large vehicle like a truck or a large trailer, and it’s gross vehicle mass is over 3,500kg, you will need a Certificate of Fitness (CoF B) instead.
How often do I need a WoF?
First registered 1999 or earlier:
WoF assessments are required every 6 months
First registered 2000 or later:
WoF assessments are required annually
Vehicles less than 3 years old:
Vehicles less than 3 years old don’t require another WoF until the third anniversary of registration
New vehicles
After the first inspection, new vehicles don’t require another WoF until the third anniversary of registration
